the trip.

1 August 2011

Embarrassing British comedy, beautiful English landscapes & gourmet food. Hmm. Although, it does not seem to go together, The Trip is a barrel of laughs.

Steve Coogan is painful; Rob Brydon is annoying, yet lovable in this story of old friends directed by Michael Winterbottom. Coogan & Brydon were made for eachother. The film script is ad-libbed & teeters on the border of fact & fiction (as the characters are playing themselves)--it was pretty seemless.

It is worth the watch for the persistant battles of Michael Caine impersonations alone. The film is funny, touchlingly sweet while poking a little fun at the foodie seriousness.

happy eatings & cheers!
